Foot in Mouth Disease?

Posted in Politics on June 26, 2008 by magicmafia

Don Imus is trying to pull his “foot from his mouth” again on June 24.

This time he’s not apologizing.

As ABC’s Linsey Davis reports, Imus says his latest racial remark is being unfairly turned against him.

It’s deja vu for Don Imus, who’s under fire after sports talk, one again, turned to race.

“You’re not going to get me for this, this is ridiculous,” stated Imus.

It started out as a discussion about why NFL player Adam Jones dropped his nickname. A co-host told Imus Jones had been arrested six times since being drafted by Tennessee.

Imus: “What color is he?”

Wolf: “He’s African-American.”

Imus: “Well, there you go. Now we know.”

And now, Imus is defending himself again.

Last year, his comments about the Rutgers’ women’s basketball team got him fired.

“You think he’d be more careful now. I’m just really amazed that he would be so sloppy with his language or at least not explaining what he means whenever he brings up the topic of race,” said Clarence Page.

In the previous basketball controversy, Imus apologized, but he says this reference to the football player’s race was actually meant to tackle a larger issue.

“Well, obviously I already knew what color he was, the point was, in order to make a sarcastic point, I asked Warner what color he was,” said Imus.

What people should be outraged about is they arrest blacks for no reason,” he added.

A spokesperson for Citadel Broadcasting said disciplinary action against Imus is unlikely.

Good; this is a non-issue. Leave the poor guy alone and let him entertain people.

My Definition of Political Correctness

Posted in Politics on May 4, 2008 by magicmafia

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Swedish Prosecutor Takes On The Pirate Bay

Posted in Politics, Uncategorized on January 31, 2008 by magicmafia

A Swedish prosecutor filed charges against Hans Fredrik Neij, Per Svartholm Warg, Peter Kolmisoppi, and Carl Lundstroem, the four men behind the BitTerrorist haven The Pirate Bay, today. Prosecutor Haakan Roswall has claimed that The Pirate Bay “promotes other people’s infringements of copyright laws” and makes money off of that promotion from its banner ads, and he’s dinged the site for distributing 20 music files–including songs by The Cardigans and The Beatles–as well as nine movies and four video games.

Should they be found guilty, the head pirates’ punishments will include a year in jail, fines of 1.2 million kronor ($189,00), and confiscations of their computers, but they’re not really shaking in their boots, as the above graphic and the latest post from their blog–titled “Celeb-ration!” because it’s the hundredth such missive on the site–indicates:

We’ve got reasons to celebrate. Millions of them!

This week we’ve hit some magic numbers. We’re tracking over 1 million torrents. We have had over 10 million simultaneous peers on the trackers. We’re at 2.5 million registered users (and they are active as well). And this is blog post 100!…

In case we lose the pending trial (yeah right) there will still not be any changes to the site. The Pirate Bay will keep operating just as always. We’ve been here for years and we will be here many more.

It also came to our attention that it’s now possible to buy the documents, from the police!, in the current investigation about The Pirate Bay. But only on paper. And it’s not 4000 pages, it’s 4620 pages. And they cost 6050 SEK for all of them (about 1000 USD). Our view of it? Why not just make a PDF, make a torrent of the PDF and seed it. We know a perfect place you can do that for free, and nobody would have to pay for all those pages of investigation. And a hell of a lot of trees would be saved… And even though the information in the investigation might be a bit personal at times (alcohol intake, sex addictions) we’re not suing the police for commercially exploiting the material they took from us without permission.

Sharing is caring – to care for us please share even more then before!

Translation: We’re going to need extra banner ad beer money because of all the legal fees we’re going to be socked with soon!

Hey, Kids! It’s Porn on ABC!

Guess a racy 2003 NYPD Blue scene featuring actress Charlotte Ross’ naked backside (or nude buttocks, as the Associated Press is saying) is going to cost ABC some money. The FCC has issued a $1.4 million fine against 52 ABC affiliates for Charlotte Ross’ nude buttocks shown on a 2003 broadcast of NYPD Blue.

The FCC is saying that the scene, where Charlotte Ross is surprised in the shower by a boy, showed “multiple, close-up views” of her “nude buttocks.”

The FCC found the nude shots on NYPD Blue to be indecent because “it depicts sexual organs and excretory organs — specifically an adult woman’s buttocks.”

Further, the FCC thought the scene with Charlotte Ross “dwelled” on her nudity and was “shocking and titillating.”

Here’s the Charlotte Ross nude butt scene from NYPD Blue:

So, what do you think? Too much ado about a derriere? And why does it take the FCC 5 years to pull down a fine against a network?

Ah, government…
